In game one of a series moved to Northborough, Mass. due to unplayable conditions on the Boston College campus, NC State stumbled to a 3-1 loss on Friday.

The Wolfpack (11-9, 2-5 ACC) fell into a 3-0 deficit by the fourth inning with Boston College (6-12, 1-6) starter Jeff Burke in the midst of a 7 1/3 inning, five-hit, one run performance. The Pack's lone run chased Burke from the game, but State couldn't push the game-tying runs across. The best chance came with runners on the corners and two outs in the eighth, when Andrew Knizner's fly to the track in left fell innocently into the fielder's glove.

Logan Ratledge led the Pack offense with a 2-for-4 day. Brock Deatherage provided State's only RBI in a 1-for-4 outing with a double. Tommy DeJuneas, Jake Armstrong, and Ryne Willard each supplied one hit. Joel McKeithan scored the Wolfpack's lone run.

NC State starter Cory Wilder (1-4) lasted 3 1/3, allowing three earned on five hits and three walks while fanning two. Joe O'Donnell worked the next two frames, holding the Eagles scoreless on two hits and a walk with three punchouts. Travis Orwig retired all five batters he faced in 1 2/3. Jon Olczak struck out the side in the eighth.
