FORT COLLINS, Colo. - For its fourth straight postseason appearance and second in two years under head coach Wes Moore, the NC State women's basketball team has been selected to compete in the 2015 Women's National Invitational Tournament.
In the first round (March 18-20), NC State will play at East Tennessee State (RPI 109) on Thursday, March 19. An exact time will be determined on Tuesday, March 17.
Despite facing significant adversity during the 2014-15 season, the Wolfpack (RPI 82) has managed a 16-14 record (7-9 ACC). Due to injuries and the NCAA's ruling on freshman center Sara Boric, NC State has had five student-athletes this season miss a combined 72 games.
"We have a young team, so we felt like the extra practice time and the extra game experience would be good for these kids," NC State head coach Wes Moore said. "Obviously, Len'Nique Brown-Hoskin has been a big part of this program and, being a senior, we weighed heavily on her thoughts and she wanted to keep playing.
"That's a testament to these kids and how much they love competing. It's going to be a tough road because we will have to go on the road and play a very good team. It will be a challenge, but any experience these young kids can get will be good and in the future we plan on being in the NCAA Tournament."
ETSU posted a 21-11 (11-3 Southern Conference) record during the 2014-15 season. The Buccaneers advanced to the SoCon championship game before falling to Chattanooga in overtime by a final score of 61-56. ETSU is the 18th best shooting team in the country at a success rate of .447 from the field.
