Pack Freshmen Compete At USA Cross Country Championships

BOULDER, COLO., - Three NC State freshmen came just short of qualifying for the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang, China.
Rachel Koon and Mary Grace Doggett ran to top-10 finishes in the junior women's 6k race, while Patrick Sheehan finished 11th in the junior men's 8k race.
Koon finished with a mark of 22:25 for seventh place, while Doggett followed closely behind for an eighth-place finish of 22:47.
The top-10 finishes came against some of the strongest u20 competition in the nation. In total, 43 competitors ranging in age from 14-19 ran in the event. Koon and Doggett were the lone representatives from the ACC and just two of six from the east coast in the junior women's race.
In the junior men's 8k race, Patrick Sheehan finished 11th of 46, running the course in 26:42. The Mooresville, N.C., native was the only representative from the ACC.
All three will return to Raleigh, N.C. to continue indoor track and field season.
