NC State Picks Up USTFCCCA Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS - Joanna Thompson and Erika Kemp have picked up individual All-Academic honors, while both the men and women's team have earned All-Academic team awards as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association(USTFCCCA) for the 2014 cross country season.
This marks the seventh year in a row that the NC State cross country team has received either team or individual academic honors from USTFCCCA.
Thompson is double majoring in zoology and English. She currently has a 3.246 GPA, and has received the award for the third time. Thompson led the team during the cross country season, and earned All-America status for the second consecutive year at the 2014 NCAA Championships.
Kemp, a psychology and Spanish major, was recognized for her 3.804 GPA. This is her first time receiving the honor. Kemp was a major contributor on the Wolfpack women's cross country NCAA Championship squad. The team made a record-breaking 28th appearance at the NCAA Championships.
In addition, both the men and women's teams received All-Academic team honors for their success in the classroom. The men had a cumulative GPA of 3.04, while the women's team GPA was 3.24.
