ATLANTA - The NC State women's basketball team (14-10, 5-6 ACC) picked up its second straight league win on Thursday evening, defeating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by a final score of 65-64 inside McCamish Pavilion.
Len'Nique Brown-Hoskin hit the game-winning free throw with 1.4 seconds remaining to give the Pack the final advantage it would need. Aaliyah Whiteside launched a halfcourt attempt in the waning seconds which hit the backboard but did not fall.
Georgia native Miah Spencer led the way offensively, scoring a game-high 25 points (T-career high) while collecting a team-high eight rebounds. Fellow Georgia native Dominique Wilson (14 points) and Jennifer Mathurin (11) also scored in double figures.
Three Georgia Tech student athletes recorded double-doubles: Roddreka Rogers (12 points, 12 rebounds), Katarina Vuckovic (11 points, 12 rebounds), and Ziare O'Neil (17 points, 11 rebounds).
Georgia Tech (14-11, 4-7 ACC) outshot (.356 to .348) and outrebounded (53 to 36) NC State, but the Wolfpack's margin of 19 assists to eight turnovers proved to be a massive factor in the game, as the Yellow Jackets turned the ball over 17 times, leading directly to 19 NC State points.

NC State played a disciplined first half en route to taking a 27-24 advantage at the intermission. Despite shooting 10-37 (.270) from the field in the opening 20 minutes, the Pack defended Georgia Tech very well. The Yellow Jackets shot 10-26 (.385) from the field and a mere 2-14 (.143) from distance. One of the highlights of the first half was a 7:24 stretch during which State held the Yellow Jackets without a point to take a five-point advantage.
The Pack would extend its lead to as many as 12 points when Spencer scored down low to make it 44-32 with 14:33 remaining in the contest. Georgia Tech would slowly chip away at NC State's lead over the course of the next 12 minutes, eventually tying the contest up at 60-60 when O'Neil recorded a basket and the ensuing free throw with 2:42 to play.
Tech would claim the lead 56 seconds later when Kaela Davis hit a jumper to make it 62-60. Spencer then tied it at 62 apiece a few seconds later, and the Yellow Jackets returned serve when Whiteside hit a jumper to make it 64-62.
A jumper from Wilson leveled the game again at 64-64, and Brown-Hoskin sank the first of two free throws to make it 65-64.
NC State will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Boston College. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Eagles is set for 2 p.m. from Chestnut Hill, Mass.
