Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Virginia

Sophomore Julia Brown records double figure kills in eighth consecutive match
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The NC State volleyball team fell in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 29-27), at Virginia Friday night inside Memorial Gym.
The Wolfpack falls to 15-15 and 4-14 in ACC play, while the Cavaliers improve to 18-10 and 10-7 in league action.
Match Rewind
- NC State got off to a slow start in the contest as Virginia won the first, 25-14. Trailing 13-10, the Cavaliers scored five unanswered points to control the frame.
- The two teams battled in the second set, as the score was tied 12 times and the lead changed three times. With the score tied at 19, Virginia won three of the next four points to take a 22-20 advantage forcing an NC State timeout.
- Unfortunately for the Wolfpack, the break in play did not interrupt the Cavs rhythm as they went on to win the set, 25-22.
- The final set was also tightly-contested, as it had to be decided with extra points. NC State fought off match point four different times before Virginia was able to capitalize to win the frame, 29-27 and the overall match, 3-0.
Top Performers
- Sophomores Julia Brown and Perry Ramsey led the Wolfpack offensively with 13 kills apiece. Brown notched double-digit kills for the eighth consecutive match.
- At the setter position, junior Maggie Speaks dished out 28 assists. Defensively, freshman Kassie Kasper paced the Pack with 10 digs.

NC State returns to action Wednesday, Nov. 25, when it travels to Duke. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
