Volleyball Heads to UNC-Chapel Hill for Midweek Tilt

Wolfpack plays Tar Heels at 6 p.m. Wednesday
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team will make the short trip over to Chapel Hill Wednesday evening for a matchup against 22nd-ranked North Carolina. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. inside Carmichael Arena.

The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 15-13 overall record and a 4-12 clip in ACC play, while the Tar Heels are 17-8 and 14-2 in league action.

Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season, NC State dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision against the Pittsburgh Panthers on senior night. Seniors Tanna Aljoe and Morgan Cormier were honored prior to the match for their contributions to the program.

UNC won the first meeting between the two teams this season, wining 3-0 against the Wolfpack in Holliday Gym at Broughton High School.

Brown's KILLin It
In the past six matches, sophomore outside hitter Julia Brown has tallied double-digit kills in every contest, posting a team high for NC State in five of those matches.

During the span, the Davidson, N.C., native has put down 89 kills and is averaging 3.71 kills per set. Both of which are best on the team during the past six matches.

For the season, Brown leads the Wolfpack with double figure kills in 15 matches.

NC State has won the third set in 20 of the 28 matches it has played this season. The adjustments made during the intermission after the second set have had a direct impact on the team's performance in the third frame.

UNC-Chapel Hill has been rolling in its past few matches, as the squad is currently on a nine-match winning streak. The Tar Heels have played their way into the top-25 rankings and currently sit at No. 22 with a 17-8 overall record and 14-2 mark in league play.

The Tar Heels are the ACC's best blocking team and second-best in the NCAA, averaging 3.19 blocks per set. UNC is also second in the conference in opponent hitting percentage at .169, which is 35th in the NCAA.
Senior middle blocker Paige Neuenfeldt leads the Tar Heels offensively with 2.48 kills per set, while classmate Leigh Andrew has put down 2.38 kps. Abigail Curry and Jordyn Schnabl have split time at the setter position, with the former handing out 6.60 assists per set and the latter 6.06 aps. At the libero position, Sheila Doyle paces the team with 3.59 digs per set.
