RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team returns to action on Thursday evening when it travels to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Seminole Soccer Complex and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
A WIN ON THURSDAY WOULD...
-Be the 326th win in program history
-Be the Pack's first ACC win of the season
-Be the Pack's first win over a top-10 team since a 2-1 win over No. 1 UNC-Chapel Hill on Oct. 10, 2002.
SERIES HISTORY
-Thursday's match marks the 21st meeting between NC State and Florida State.
-The Wolfpack trails the series 3-15-2.
-NC State's last win over Florida State was a 2-1 victory in Raleigh on October 25, 1998.
SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES
-Florida State enters Thursday's match the owner of a 10-1-1 record (3-0-1 ACC) and the owner of the No. 2 national ranking in the Oct. 6 NSCAA national poll.
-The Seminoles have scored 35 goals and allowed six this season.
-Florida State's only loss this season came on August 30 at rival Florida (3-2).
POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER
NC State's scheduled October 2 home match against No. 3 Virginia was postponed due to multiple days of heavy rain in the Raleigh area. The contest has been rescheduled and will be played on October 28 at Dail Soccer Field.
LAST MATCH
NC State outshot Boston College 13-10 in a tough 1-0 loss on Sept. 27. The Pack was in control for most of the match with both Jackie Stengel and Dayna Tomayko recording a game-high four shots.
ANOTHER LINE OF DEFENSE
NC State has recorded two team defensive saves during the 2015 season. Sophomore Mackenzie Graybill and junior Alyson Brown have each headed shot attempts off the goal line this season.
THE REGULARS
Only four Wolves have started all 12 matches of the 2015 season. Two of them--Hannah Keogh and Taylor Porter--are true freshmen.
FIRST GOAL IS KEY
NC State is 4-1-0 in matches this season when it finds the back of the net before its opponent. The only loss came in the season opener at San Diego.
