Performances at Notre Dame Invite fuel move in the rankings
NEW ORLEANS – The NC State men's and women's cross country team moved up in the National USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll after second-place finishes at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite.
The men's team jumped 10 spots to tie for 17th in the nation, and the women's team moved up two spots to No. 12 in the latest poll. This is the highest ranking of the year for both squads.
At this past weekend's race, both teams grouped well and had multiple runners finish in the lead packs, while several prominent members from both teams made season debuts.
Ryen Frazier led the women and won her second-straight race. Teammates Erika Kemp and Samantha George both crossed the finish line in the top-15, while Rachel Koon and Megan Moye rounded out the scoring.
On the men's side, Meron Simon led the team in his Wolfpack debut, earning a fourth-place finish. Sebastian Hanson, Sam Parsons and Bakri Abushouk followed Simon, and all placed in the top 13. Sam Roberson was the fifth scorer for the Wolfpack.
