
NC State Sweeps Second Place at ACC Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Both NC State cross country teams finished second at the ACC Championships on Friday morning. Each team placed four runners on the All-ACC team, bringing the program to 245 All-ACC Selections.
The 12th-ranked men finished with 95 points. They were behind No. 2 Syracuse who won the title with 46 points. The eight-ranked women finished just behind No. 7 UVa with 75 points. The Cavaliers edged Pack by four with 71 points.
All-ACC:
Sam Parsons, Meron Simon, Sebastian Hanson and Bakri Abushouk earned All-ACC mentions on the men's team, and Ryen Frazier, Rachel Koon, Kaitlyn Kramer and Erika Kemp earned the honor on the women's team.
Men's Race:

The Wolfpack grouped up well, and moved up in the team standings the entire race. Despite, a front group jumping out to a big lead after the first 2,000m, the Pack stayed together and worked their way towards the front over the course of the race.
After 3,000m, the team was eighth in the standings. The group moved up to fourth at the 5,000m splits, and closed out the race strong, moving up two spots to second-place with 95 points. Over the final 2,000m, the Pack ran down and passed many of the runners that jumped out in the early lead group.
Parsons (23:44.8) and Simon (23:55.3) led the way with top-10 finishes. The duo finished seventh and ninth, respectively. Abushouk (24:09.5) and Hanson (24:06.2) placed in the top-20.
To round out the scoring, redshirt freshman Zack Langston finished fifth on the team and 47th overall with a mark of 24:55.8.
Women's Race:

The women had a strong start, placing three runners in the top 10 after the 3,000m mark. Kemp, George and Frazier lead the way, while Koon, Kramer and Moye trailed slightly behind.
As the field started to spread out, the Pack worked its way to a strong position after 5,000m with Frazier and Koon in the top-15. Virginia edged NC State over the final 1,000m to take the conference title.
Frazier led the team in fifth place, crossing the finish line in 20:22.4. Koon also had a strong race, finishing seventh with a time of 20:24.4. Kramer (20:42.1) and Kemp (20:45.1) rounded out the top 20 with 18th and 20th place finishes, respectively.
Koon and Frazier are both having stellar freshman campigns, scoring every meet of the season so far.
Megan Moye rounded out the scoring, finishing 25th in 20:54.2. Her finish marks a 14-place improvement from last year's championship races.
