NC State men's soccer held a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute before two late goals stole the result

No. 21 NC State men's soccer fell 2-1 on Friday night at No. 12 Syracuse.
In the first half, NC State weathered a storm that saw the Orange outshoot the Pack 7-1 and a 6-2 advantage on corners. Despite the onslaught, State's defense stood firm, McCauley saving the only shot allowed on goal.
In the 68th minute, the Wolfpack (8-4-3, 1-3-3 ACC) broke through when Knudson and Duchscherer worked in tandem to push forward into the Orange box. Knudson juggled to control possession, then dished to Duchscherer who drilled his fifth goal of the year into the bottom right corner.
Syracuse (10-4-2, 3-3-1) found the equalizer in the 75th minute. A free kick punched away, then sent back into the box, setting up a shot hooked into the bottom right corner from 15 yards. In the 85th, the Orange created the game-winner. A corner kick to the near post headed in set the final margin at 2-1.
NC State returns to action on Friday, October 30 for a 7 PM kickoff at Dail Soccer Stadium against Clemson.
