Wolfpack soccer faces yet another ranked opponent Tuesday night at Dail
No. 20 NC State men's soccer faces its fifth nationally-ranked opponent in a row on Tuesday night at 7 PM, when No. 13 South Carolina visits Dail Soccer Stadium.
- The Wolfpack (6-2-3, 1-1-3 ACC) continues moving stride for stride with the country's finest programs, tying Louisville, Notre Dame, and Wake Forest since September 25. State's non-conference matchup with Coastal Carolina was rained out and has not been rescheduled. Tuesday's meeting with Gamecocks (7-3-1, 4-0 CUSA) represents NC State's first out-of-conference competition since a 4-3 win over Gardner-Webb on September 22.
- NC State holds the No. 18 RPI in the country, one spot behind South Carolina. All current NCAA Tournament projections include the Wolfpack.
- The Wolfpack climbed to No. 20 in Monday's Top Drawer Soccer National Top 25, and held at No. 21 in the latest College Soccer News Top 30. State is expected to improve on its No. 22 ranking according to Soccer America and reappear in the NSCAA's poll when those are released Tuesday.
- While the Pack's difficult schedule has made on-field results staggeringly more important than statistical prowess, NC State has improved steadily on the defensive side of the ball. The Wolfpack ranks fifth in the ACC, inside the top 50 nationally, in goals allowed.
Tuesday's match will stream live on ESPN3, link available on the GoPack men's soccer schedule. Live stats will be provided by GoPack.com. Fans can follow along with Twitter updates via @PackMensSoccer.
