SPENCER’S SCORING
Sophomore guard Miah Spencer is approaching a scoring milestone in her second season at NC State. The Georgia native has scored in double figures 24 times in her 47 career appear-ances and is sitting at 459 career points. Spencer has upped her scoring average from 8.3 points per game last season to 13.3 points per outing this year. Upon reaching 500 career points, Spencer will be the third active Wolfpacker on the roster to have achieved this mark (Barrett and Brown-Hoskin).
ROSTER LIMITATIONS
Injuries have hampered the Wolfpack this season, as State is currently playing without two important guards: senior captain and regular starter Krystal Barrett (Dec. 19 knee injury) and McDonald’s All-American Honorable Mention Chloe Jackson (Nov. 21 foot injury). The Wolfpack is also without the services of 6-5 freshman center Sara Boric, who has not yet been cleared to play by the NCAA.
HOOPS 4 HOPE PRESENTED BY REX
Last season marked the ninth annual Hoops 4 Hope game at Reynolds Coliseum. The game was broadcast live on ESPN2 and saw $5 from every ticket sold go directly to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. During the second half, NC State administrators presented a check to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for $45,643. An impressive total of 8,114 fans packed Reynolds Coliseum for the event. The 10th annual Hoops 4 Hope game will be played on Feb. 22, 2015 against No. 13 Duke. The first nine years of the event have resulted in total donations of approximately $455,995 towards the research and prevention of women's cancers.
