Q: How does it feel to be in your second semester of college already?
“I think it’s crazy. First semester went by really quickly. I was surprised how fast second semester came. I think it’s going to be a lot easier this semester because first semester I got to see how everything flows and now I understand what college is like and what it takes to be a student-athlete and participate in the grind every day. “
Q: Talk about how your first semester at NC State went.
“I thought it went really well. I made a lot of friends and I love my roommate, Alyssa Compton and I get along really well. You’re always worried that you are not going to like your roommate, but we’re best friends so that worked out great. I really like our team and first semester we started right off the bat working really hard.”
Q: What was the biggest adjustment from high school to college?
“I would say the biggest adjustment was learning how to manage my time. So managing my study time and making sure I was on time to my class and tutoring, because I need to get all my study hall hours and also weight lifting and to practice.“
Q: Talk about how your first exam went.
“I did the best on my first exam it was really a shocker because the college level exams are just very different than high school. I remember walking in and the test was timed. Alyssa and I were in the same class and we were very nervous together.”
Q. What class was your first exam in and how did it go?
“It was a biology exam and I did fine on it. “
Q. Talk about how the fall season went for you on the field.
“Personally, I thought it was alright. It was my starting point and I hope to take off and keep getting better now that I have seen the level of play. It was very exciting getting ready for my first fall game, like putting on the uniform it was like it’s finally here. I was finally stepping on the field as a college athlete and participating in my first game that was pretty cool. “
Q. How did it feel to go home over the Christmas break to unwind and spend some time with family?
“It felt really good; I just enjoyed laying on the couch and not having to get up at 8am for classes. Now here (Raleigh) feels like home. I think that’s one of the weirdest things. College almost becomes your home, so when you actually go back to where you are from it’s kind of weird you don’t know what to do with yourself cause you’re so used to the same people all the time. “
Q. What was the best gift you received for Christmas this year?
“My Michaels Kors Watch. I love my Michaels Kors watches.”
Q. What are you most looking forward to with the season coming up?
“I’m most looking forward to winning and traveling with my team “
Q. When did you start playing softball?
“I started playing in the first grade.”
Q. What made you commit to NC State?
“I really liked the campus. It was actually one of the first ones I visited on the east coast and I just really liked the campus and obviously Coach Rychcik was great. I just always wanted to go to school in the south, and I thought North Carolina was a good mix it wasn’t too far south and it felt like I would really fit in well here. “
Q. What’s your favorite softball memory?
“My favorite softball memory is when I broke my nose. I was super young and I was still learning how to play softball and the ball ricocheted off my glove and broke my nose.”
Q. What’s your favorite part of practice and your least favorite part of practice?
“My favorite part is outfield and taking fly balls. My least favorite part of practice is having to do Brandon Sanders' (Strength & Conditioning Coach) warm-up, because after warm-up we’re all dead it feels like we just ran a marathon and now we still have to go practice.”
