Wolfpack Downs Tigers in ACC Play, 76-50

RALEIGH - Led by Miah Spencer's second consecutive career scoring high, the NC State women's basketball team defeated Clemson by a final score of 76-50 Saturday afternoon inside Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack improves to 11-5 (2-1 ACC) on the season while the Tigers move to 9-8 (1-3 ACC). The win marked the Wolfpack's sixth straight victory over the Tigers.
Spencer, a sophomore, notched a career scoring high for the second straight game, recording 25 points on 8-12 shooting from the field and 3-4 from beyond the arc. She broke her previous career-high Thursday evening (21 points) when the Wolfpack defeated Virginia Tech inside Reynolds Coliseum. Spencer also surpassed 500 career points in the win and now sits at 505 in just 49 games played.

"I feel like it's nothing without my teammates and the coaches because they push me so hard in practice," Spencer said on her scoring milestone. "I think it's great."
Carlee Schuhmacher (18 points) and Dominique Wilson (10) joined Spencer in double figure scoring while Jennifer Mathurin grabbed 10 rebounds and added seven points.
As a team, NC State shot 25-57 (.439) from the field and 10-22 (.435) from distance. Clemson shot 21-64 (.328) from the field and 4-23 (.174) from distance.
The Pack dominated the first half, shooting 16-28 (.571) from the field and 8-12 (.667) from distance. State would use this tremendous shooting success to open up a 45-20 halftime lead.

Throughout the second half the Pack managed to maintain a healthy lead over the Tigers, not allowing Clemson to come any closer than within 16 points (57-41).
NC State will return to action when it begins a two-game road stretch at No. 6 Louisville on Jan. 14. Tip-off is set for a 7 p.m.
