Mudge and Dempster Advance in NCAA Doubles Championship

RALEIGH, N.C. – The tandem of Robbie Mudge and Ian Dempster of the NC State men’s tennis team captured a straight-set victory in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Doubles Championship Thursday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Mudge and Dempster won the first set in the match, 6-4, against Baylor’s 21st-ranked duo of Patrick Pradella and Mate Zsiga before winning a tightly contested tiebreak to win the match in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7). With the victory, Mudge and Dempster are tied with former Wolfpackers Andy Andrews and Mark Dillon for the most victories posted during a spring season by a doubles tandem with 20.
Up next, Mudge and Dempster will face the duo of Gregory Bayane and Chase Melton of California Friday, May 23. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
