RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State softball head coach Shawn Rychcik announced on Wednesday that the squad has added a mid-week doubleheader to the schedule after cancelling last weekend’s games due to winter weather. The Wolfpack will host the Radford Highlanders on Tuesday, March 11 at 2 and 4 p.m. at Dail Stadium.
State owns a 3-2 advantage over Radford in the all-time series. The last meeting between the two schools occurred on April 8, 2008, as the teams split a doubleheader in Radford, Va.
Radford, which was picked to finish sixth in the Big South preseason coaches’ poll, was scheduled to open its season last weekend at UNCG, but winter weather forced the game to be cancelled. The Highlanders concluded the 2013 campaign with 20-36 record.
NC State will next be in action on Friday, Feb. 21 when it takes the field against No. 17 Georgia at the Citrus Classic. First pitch is slated for 1:15 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
