DES MOINES, Iowa – Set to join the Wolfpack in advance of the 2014-15 season, NC State women’s basketball (22-4, 9-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) signee Carlee Schuhmacher was recently honored by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for stellar performances during two regular-season games.
The native of Watertown, Wis., was named the ICCAC and NJCAA Player of the Week after scoring 29 points, grabbing eight rebounds, swiping two steals, blocking two shots, and dishing out one assist in the Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC) win over seventh-ranked Kirkwood Community College. She followed this up with a 33-point, 21-rebound performance in a 62-45 win over Southeastern Community College just a few days later.
Schuhmacher is averaging 23.4 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 4.1 blocked shots per game this season. She leads the ICCAC in all three categories and is ranked first nationally in blocked shots, third in scoring, and eighth in rebounding.
The No. 14 Wolfpack returns to action Thursday night at No. 7 Duke. Tip-off from Cameron Indoor Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. The action will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
