Pack Hosts Minnesota Wednesday in ACC/B1G Challenge

RALEIGH – The NC State women’s basketball team (5-2) returns to action at home on Wednesday evening, hosting the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the 2014 installment of the ACC/B1G Challenge. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Reynolds Coliseum.

GETTING IT DONE AT THE LINE
As of games played Nov. 30, NC State boasts the highest free throw shooting percentage in the Atlantic Coast Conference. NC State has hit 124 of 156 (.795) free throws this season and ranks nearly three percentage points higher than the next team.
NEVER LOOK BACK
NC State did not trail Texas Tech once throughout its 75-42 demolition of the Lady Raiders on Nov. 29. The Wolfpack led for 38:36 and the game was tied for 1:24. NC State’s largest lead of the game was 37 points.
QUICK HANDS
As of games played Nov. 30, NC State ranks fourth in the ACC with 10.6 steals per game. Miah Spencer, Len’Nique Brown-Hoskin, and Dominique Wilson are all tied for seventh in the league with 2.1 per outing.
BALL HAWK
Despite being the shortest player on the team at 5-5, Len’Nique Brown-Hoskin is averaging the second most rebounds on the team at 5.1 per contest. She has led or tied for the team lead in rebounds two times this season.
SMALL WORLD
NC State senior guard and captain Krystal Barrett shares a hometown and high school with Minnesota sophomore guard Stabresa McDaniel. Both guards grew up in Dallas, Texas, and played high school basketball for Skyline High School.
SERIES HISTORY
-Wednesday’s game will mark the fifth all-time meeting between NC State and Minnesota.
-NC State holds a 3-1 advantage in the series.
-Minnesota won the last meeting between the two teams, a 71-67 decision in Reno, Nev., on Nov. 27, 2010.
-NC State is 1-0 against Minnesota inside the friendly confines of Reynolds Coliseum.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GOPHERS
-Minnesota enters Wednesday’s game the owner of a 6-1 record.
-The Golden Gophers are receiving votes in the latest Associated Press poll (Dec. 1).
-So far this season, Minnesota has defeated Southeastern Louisiana, Cleveland State, Memphis, Southern, College of Charleston, and Georgia Tech. The Golden Gophers’ lone loss came against Vanderbilt.
