RALEIGH - NC State ripped off a 27-1 run to take a big early lead and cruised to a 86-50 win over Charleston Southern Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum.
In his first collegiate start, Caleb Martin went 7-12 from the field, scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Ralston Turner continued his hot streak going 6-12 from the floor and scoring 17 points. Anthony `Cat' Barber also had a strong performance, scoring 14 points and getting seven rebounds. Once again, Lennard Freeman led the team in rebounds with eight.
Charleston Southern (5-3) made a 3-pointer to open the game, but the rest of the night was all Wolfpack. State scored the next 22 points of the game to build a 22-3 lead. The lead was extended to 44-15 late in the first half before the Wolfpack claimed a 46-20 lead at halftime.

Abuuuuuuu: Abdul-Malik Abu posted his most productive game of the season. The 6-8 freshmen scored 11 points on 5-8 shooting and pulled down four rebounds.
Gott Said It:"I thought we played pretty well tonight and we had a great start to the game. We had a lot of energy. I thought Caleb responded with an opportunity to be a starter tonight and did really well. The most important factor of the night was us limiting them to only two 3-point made baskets for the night. This is a team that averages almost 10 a game. They can get rolling from behind the 3-point line. Our guys did a nice job. We stayed attached to shooters. We didn't come off certain guys. Defensively, it ended up being a pretty good night for our team.
Hopefully we can build on that. Our guys will gain confidence from that. The executed defensively exactly how we wanted to play them."
Heritage Games: NC State improved to 14-0 in games at Reynolds since moving to PNC Arena in 1999. Mark Gottfried is 5-0 in the historic gym.
Up Next: NC State will continue its weekend at Reynolds, hosting 2014 Southern Conference champ Wofford Sunday at Reynolds at 4 p.m. Sunday's game will be televised on Fox Sports South.
