GETTING IT DONE AT THE LINE
As of games played Nov. 25, NC State boasts the highest free throw shooting percentage in the Atlantic Coast Conference. NC State has hit 102 of 127 (.803) free throws this season and ranks nearly five percentage points higher than the next team.
WHO SHOULD YOU GUARD?
NC State’s offense has been very balanced in its first five games of the 2014-15 season. Each of four Wolfpack victories featured four student athletes scoring in double figures. Miah Spencer (15.6 ppg.) is the team’s offensive leader to this point, while Dominique Wilson (13.4) and Carlee Schuhmacher (10.4) are not far behind.
ROAD TRIP!
On Sunday, Nov. 23, NC State embarked on a two-city, seven-day road trip. The Pack played at Tulane on Nov. 24 before heading to Freeport, Bahamas, to compete at the 2014 Junkanoo Jam. All stops considered, the Wolfpack will travel approximately 4,890 miles on the trip.
UNUSUAL RULING
Due to an officiating error in the Nov. 24 loss at Tulane, NC State had two points removed from its score at halftime and was not able to replay a possession.
With 27 seconds to play in the first half, sophomore guard Ashley Williams was fouled. This was the sixth team foul on Tulane, yet the officials directed Williams to shoot free throws in a one-and-one situation. She sank both, and the Pack went into the halftime break trailing 24-20.
At halftime, the officiating error was realized, and two points were taken from the Pack. Despite protests, NC State was not permitted to replay its possession with 27 seconds to play in the first half, losing two points, 27 seconds, and possession of the ball in the process.
Despite this setback, NC State started the second half on a tear, scoring 10 of the first 13 points to take a 28-27 lead with 15:15 to play in the contest.
