NC State Overpowers Richmond 84-72

RALEIGH - Trevor Lacey and Ralston Turner scored a combined 49 points and the NC State men's basketball team outlasted Richmond 84-72 on Wednesday night at PNC Arena. After 29 lead changes and eight ties, State improves to 5-0 - its best start since 2009.
It was Lacey in the first half, with the redshirt junior scoring 21 points in the first half. Turner, who had been trying to shake a minor illness this week, helped the Pack shake the Spiders in the second half. Turner scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half as NC State pulled away.

By The Numbers: - Richmond shot 72 percent from the floor in the first half, but was limited to a 30.3 shooting percentage in the second.
- Turner's 23 points was one shy of his career high. NC State is 5-0 when Turner scores at least 20 points.
- Lacey's 26 points was a career high. He also had a career-high nine field goals made to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
- Lennard Freeman led the team in rebounds with 9. This marks the fourth game in a row that Freeman has led the team in rebounds.
Turning Point: A Kyle Washington jumper with 9:16 remaining in the second half gave NC State a 64-63 lead. The Wolfpack would not lose the lead again. The team went on a 20-9 run to close out the game. The Wolfpack defense stifled the visiting Spiders as they went 3-14 to close out the game.
Up Next: NC State has a quick turnaround. The Pack concludes the second game of its holiday weekend on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. against Boise State.
