TWO IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Sophomore Miah Spencer (15 points on 7-13 shooting) and junior Carlee Schuhmacher (14 points, six rebounds) led the way for the Wolfpack in its 70-52 exhibition win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 7. Sophomore forward Jennifer Mathurin also chipped in nine points and six rebounds in the winning effort.
POINTS OFF TURNOVERS
NC State scored 27 points off Lenoir-Rhyne miscues on Nov. 7. The Wolfpack forced the bears into 23 total turnovers.
FIVE QUICK FACTS
NC State returns two starters from a 2013-14 team which won 25 games, was nationally ranked for 12 straight weeks to end the season, and finished fourth in the ACC regular-season standings.
NC State’s two returning seniors are both regular starters and will lead a young group which includes six newcomers (four freshmen and two transfers).
Wes Moore returns in his second year at the helm of the Wolfpack. At the end of the 2013-14 season, he was named ESPNW’s ACC Coach of the Year and was also one of four Naismith Coach of the Year finalists. At 583 career wins, Moore is just 17 victories away from reaching 600 for his career.
Domique Wilson, a redshirt sophomore transfer from Arkansas, will be eligible to play for the Wolfpack in 2014-15. During her freshman season at Arkansas (2012-13), Wilson made 19 starts and played in all 33 games for the Razorbacks, averaging 6.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest. She started 14 of the final 15 games of the season and averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game during that stretch.
The Wolfpack loses a combined 50.4 points per game (67.1 percent of total offense) due to the graduation of its most recent senior class, a group which included two WNBA Draft picks (Markeisha Gatling and Kody Burke).
SERIES HISTORY
Friday’s game will serve as the first-ever meeting between NC State and Tennessee State on the hardwood.
