CLEMSON, S.C. – The NC State women’s soccer team endured a road defeat at No. 21 Clemson in its final Atlantic Coast Conference match of the year, falling by a final score of 2-0 Saturday evening.
Two early first-half goals by Catrina Atanda in the third and 11th minutes of the match proved to be enough for the Tigers (13-3-2, 6-3-1 ACC) to earn the win in a match that was delayed 45 minutes due to a power outage at Riggs Field.
Alexa Allen led the way for the Wolfpack offensively, recording two shots on the evening. She was responsible for two of State’s best offensive opportunities in the 33rd and 78th minutes.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Stelljes had a strong match in net, recording ten saves on the evening. She’s now made double-digit saves in two Wolfpack matches this season.
“Mack had a good game tonight,” head coach Tim Santoro said. “She was busy early on and during portions of the second half she had some tough saves to make.”
The Wolfpack (2-14-2, 0-10-0 ACC) will conclude the 2014 regular season at Princeton on Tuesday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
