RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State fell victim to Boston College's ground-and-pound approach, as the Pack fell 30-14 to the visiting Eagles at Carter-Finley Stadium. The two teams traded touchdowns on the game's first five possession, but BC finished with 57 rushes for 310 yards and four TDs and wore down the Pack's defense in the second half.
WOLFPACK DRIVE OF THE GAME
13 plays, 65 yard TD drive on first offensive possession.
After BC took the opening kick for a TD, NC State responded with a 13 play-65 yard drive to even the score at 7-7 early in the first quarter. The Pack used 34 yards rushing and 31 passing on a drive that was capped by a Tony Creecy two-yard rushing TD, his first rushing TD of the season and 14th overall TD of his career.
FROM THE LOCKER ROOM
"Hats off to Boston College, they played a great game and they played better than us. It was frustrating at times with all of the disruptions. They (BC) pressed us up; they started really fast and throughout the game adjusted really well. Defensively we showed some heart tonight. I'm proud of them for the way they came out in the third quarter after the delay. We didn't fight the big plays off like we needed to, BC has averaged 300 yards per game and it showed tonight." - NC State head coach Dave Doeren
NOTABLES
• Two plays into the third quarter, the game was delayed for lightning. The delay ended up being for 57 minutes.
• QB Jacoby Brissett's interception early in the third quarter broke his streak of 187 passes without an INT (his only previous INT was in the season opener). Brissett's streak of 187 ranks as the seventh-best in ACC history.
• Tony Creecy's first quarter rushing TD was his first of the season and eighth of his career. Creecy has now had at least one rushing score in all four seasons of his career.
UP NEXT
The Pack will head to Louisville next weekend and face the Cardinals for the first time since they joined the ACC. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be televised on RSN for the second straight week.
