Norenius, McGuiness Conclude Play at NCTC

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Sophomore Simon Norenius and freshman Parker McGuiness of the NC State men’s tennis team recently concluded play at the 2014 National Collegiate Tennis Classic.
In singles, Norenius reached the semifinals after defeating San Diego’s Geoffrey Fosso in a decisive third set, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, before falling to USD’s Uros Petronijevic, 6-2, 6-1. McGuiness, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to third-seeded Facundo Lugones of TCU, 1-6, 6-5 (6), 6-2.
In doubles, Norenius and McGuiness advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to TCU’s duo of Amau Dachs and Jhonathan Gonzalez, 6-3.
The Wolfpack will return to the courts on Saturday, Jan. 25, as the squad will face VCU as part of the ITA Kick Off Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
