RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State senior Dave Thomson and junior Sean Weber will begin play in the 2013 NCAA Doubles Championships Thursday, May 23 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Illinois. First serve is set for 6 p.m. EST.
The Wolfpack duo will face Mississippi State's Jordan Angus and Malte Stropp in a first round matchup. Thomson and Weber are 19-11 on the season, including seven wins over nationally ranked opponents. Angus and Stropp have a record of 20-16.
For championship purposes, all matches will be the best of three sets with regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games apiece will be used for all matches. During the regular season, doubles competition was decided by an eight-game pro set.
Thomson and Weber are the first Wolfpack doubles pair to make the field of 32 since 2008 when Nick Cavaday and Jay Weinacker received a bid to the championship.
