BLACKSBURG, Va. – NC State softball’s scheduled series finale against No. 19 Virginia Tech on Sunday at the Tech Softball Park has been canceled due to inclement weather in the area.
The contest will not be rescheduled.
The Wolfpack (13-13-1 overall, 2-3 ACC) swept the first two games of its first ACC road series of the season on Saturday, winning 10-2 in five innings in the first game and 9-2 in the second game. It was the first time the Pack has ever run-ruled a ranked opponent and the first time since 2007 it has swept a doubleheader against a ranked team.
It’s the second time this season the weather has played havoc with the schedule. A home doubleheader against USC Upstate on March 5 was canceled because of rain.
State will hit the road twice more in the coming week, heading to Greenville, N.C., on Wednesday to face East Carolina in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. and to Atlanta later in the week for its third ACC series of the season.
The Pack and the Yellow Jackets will play twice on Friday and once on Saturday.
