Men's Tennis Closes Play at WFU Fall Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Sophomore Thomas Weigel and freshman Ian Dempster of the NC State men’s tennis team captured the consolation doubles final on Sunday on the final day of the Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
Weigel and Dempster teamed up to win their third consecutive match in the consolation final of the A doubles draw over Wake Forest’s pair of Sam Bloom and Jon Ho, 8-7 (5).
In singles of the A2 draw, Weigel was edged by Penn State’s Alex Fennell in a third set tiebreak, 0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).
Up next, the Wolfpack will serve as a co-host, along with Duke, at the ITA Carolina Regionals, played at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., Oct. 17-21.
