Wolfpack softball will head to Charlottesville, Va., this weekend to take on Virginia in State's final ACC regular season series. Action in the three-game set begins Saturday with a doubleheader at noon and 2 p.m., then concludes Sunday at noon.
Like the Pack, Virginia dropped two out of three games a weekend ago. State lost two highly contested and hard fought games to Maryland, while the Cavaliers were defeated by Virginia Tech.
Renada Davis leads the Wolfpack offensively in her freshman campaign. The Tomball, Texas, native is batting .341 with a team-high 47 hits and 30 runs scored. Bethaney Wells continues to pace the Pack in all power categories, including home runs (11), RBI (38) and slugging percentage (.590). She is tied for the league lead in home runs, and sits in the top five of multiple other offensive categories.
In the circle, Morgan Peeler owns a team-best 2.66 ERA, and freshman Emily Weiman has fanned 195 batters in 194.2 innings of work.
Alexa Martinez leads the Cavaliers with a .317 batting average, and Melanie Mitchell's 1.50 ERA in the circle is tops on the squad.
Following this weekend's action, NC State softball returns to the field for the ACC Tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Thursday, May 10. The Pack's game time and opponent depends on final seeding after the regular season concludes.
