Final Results
AWENDAW, S.C. – The NC State men’s golf team finished seventh at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Country Club.
The Wolfpack shot a final-round score of 24-over 312 on Tuesday and finished the 54-hole tournament at 18-over 882. The team finished ahead of ACC foes North Carolina, Wake Forest and Maryland.
Tuesday’s final round played to an average score of 77.49, nearly five and a half strokes over par, and over four shots harder than the first two rounds.
Senior Mark McMillen and sophomore All-American Albin Choi were the Pack’s top finishers at 2-over 218 – good for a tie for 12th.
McMillen recorded his best finish of the spring and best score since winning in the fall at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The T12 marks his fifth career top-20.
Meanwhile, Choi notched his sixth-straight top-20 and 16th in 20 collegiate events.
Defending-tournament champion, and junior All-American Mitchell Sutton began the day in the top 10 with Choi but wound up tied for 25th at 6-over 222.
Senior Chad Day tied for 45th at 11-over 227, and red-shirt freshman James Chapman tied for 64th at 17-over 233.
On the strength of a 1-2 finish by Auburn’s Niclas Carlsson (-5) and Blayne Barber (-4), the Tigers cruised to a nine-shot win at 10-under 854. Virginia was second, and Texas A&M placed third.
State will next compete at the River Landing Intercollegiate on April 6 and 7 at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, N.C.
