Final Round Results
STATESBORO, Ga. – The NC State men’s golf team finished 14th at the Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Wolfpack fired a final-round 10-over 298 and finished the three-day, 54-hole event at +21 (885).
Seniors Chad Day and Mark McMillen, and red-shirt freshman James Chapman all tied for 54th to account for State's best finish at 6-over 222 for the tournament.
Freshman Andrew Decker placed in a tie for 68th at 9-over 225, and junior Mitchell Sutton finished tied for 72nd at 10-over 226.
Chapman's 1-over 73 was the teams best showing on Sunday, while McMillen was one back after a 2-over 74.
The Wolfpack played this weekend without the services of sophomore All-American Albin Choi, who suffered an injury earlier in the week.
Alabama overwhelmed the rest of the field to win the event by 18 shots. The Crimson Tide finished at 47-under 817, followed by Virginia at -25 and Auburn and Florida tied for third at -17.
Ben Kohles of Virginia began the day with a one-shot lead and wound up winning by three shots at 18-under 198. Auburn's Blayne Barber finished second at -15. Alabama had the next four on the leader board.
State will compete next at Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate March 25-27 at Bulls Bay Country Club in Awendaw, S.C. Sutton is the defending champion.
