Holston, Kastanek Earn All-ACC Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State senior forward Bonae Holston was named third team All-ACC and junior guard Marissa Kastanek earned honorable mention plaudits, as released by the league on Monday.
Holston, from Newport News, Va., ranks second on State's club and 17th in the ACC with 12.1 points and tops her club and is sixth in the conference with 8.0 rebounds per game.
Her senior season has seen Holston climb up the all-time Wolfpack charts in a multitude of categories, including scoring with 1,557 points (10th), rebounds with 875 (8th), field goals made with 650 (8th), field goals attempted (1,353) and double-doubles with 25 (9th).
Holston was named second team All-ACC as a junior, All-ACC honorable mention as a sophomore, was the league's Sixth Player of the Year as a freshman, and earned a spot on the all-freshman team in 2008-09.
Kastanek, from Lincoln, Neb., has landed on the Honorable Mention All-ACC list for the second-straight season. She leads the Pack and sits 12th in the conference with 12.9 points per game. Kastanek also ranks fifth in the league in both free throw shooting (82.5%) and three-point shooting (36.1%).
Both players have been a mark of consistency, scoring in double figures in 23-of-29 games played this season.
NC State (16-14, 5-11 ACC) is the No. 9 seed in the ACC Tournament, and will take on No. 8 seed Florida State on Thursday at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. Tip time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The 35th Annual ACC Women's Basketball Tournament tips off at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 1, and will conclude with a 2 p.m. championship contest on Sunday, March 4. The title game will be televised on ESPN2, and Saturday’s semifinals can be seen on ESPNU. All eight games on Thursday and Friday will be broadcast on the league’s regional sports network (RSN).
