RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend, Oct. 26-28 for the University of Tennessee Fall Invitational. The Wolfpack will send singles and doubles players to the courts in the team's fourth and final tournament of the fall season.
NC State will join host Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio State to comprise the four teams participating in the tournament.
The tournament will not feature draws that are locked in, but matches will be selected randomly based on each coach's choice. Players will be awarded numbers by their team (1-8) and will play against the numbers matching each opposing team's players.
Last weekend, the Pack competed in the 2012 ITA Carolina Regionals, where sophomore Elisha Hande cruised through two rounds of singles qualifying to reach the tournament's main draw. The Cheltenham, England native grabbed a straight-set victory in the first round, extending her winning streak to seven in a row, before falling in a three-set heartbreaker in the second round. Hande is 8-3 this fall.
Despite falling to a top-25 player in the first round, freshman Rachael James-Baker was able to rebound and win back-to-back matches in consolation action.
