NC State Topped By No. 7 Duke, 83-59

DURHAM, N.C. – All five starters scored in double figures for No. 7/6 Duke in an 83-59 victory over the NC State women’s basketball team on Sunday afternoon from Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Senior Bonae Holston and junior Marissa Kastanek led NC State (10-6, 0-3 ACC) with 12 points apiece, and sophomore Kody Burke contributed 10 points.
Sophomore Richa Jackson had a career-high 19 points for Duke (12-2, 3-0 ACC). Classmate Tricia Liston notched her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Duke opened up a 21-8 lead after a slashing bucket from Jackson at the 11:22 mark of the first half, and increased its advantage to 17 a little over three minutes later.
Kastanek answered with seven-straight points to get the Pack to within nine points, 30-21, with 4:39 until the half.
Moments later Holston converted an old-fashioned three-point play to chip the lead down to 32-24.
Later Emili Tasler drilled a deep three-pointer in the late stages of the first half to keep it 40-30.
However, the Blue Devils continued to make shots, converting 51.6 percent of its field goals in the opening half.
Only a Goodwin-Coleman heave from 30-feet at the buzzer kept NC State within an ear shot, trailing 42-33 at intermission.
Duke was able to slowly build its lead back up to 16, 60-44, but a quick 8-0 spurt by the Pack got the visitors right back into the game.
Goodwin-Coleman pulled up on the break to can another three-pointer to cap the run, making it 60-52 with eight minutes to play.
Lakeesa Daniel dumped one in on the Pack’s next possession to get within six, 60-54, but Duke responded with nine-consecutive points to take its lead back up to 69-54 with less than five minutes left.
State never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way, as the club suffered from 19 second-half turnovers, and 24 for the game.
The Blue Devils also shot a staggering 90.9 percent (20-of-22) from the free throw line in the game.
Duke has won 32-straight games at home, and 24 against ACC opponents.
NC State hosts Boston College on Thursday at 7 p.m.
