Both NC State and Miami will look to avoid an 0-2 start in ACC play on Thursday night when the two clubs hook up on ESPNU at 7 p.m., in Coral Gables, Fla.
NC State is coming off a 76-66 setback to Georgia Tech, while the No. 12/13 Hurricanes were upset at North Carolina on Monday night.
Junior Marissa Kastanek turned in another stellar performance for the Wolfpack, scoring a season-high 27 points in the loss to the Yellow Jackets. She went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, and now is tied as the 10th best free throw shooter in ACC history at 82.3 percent.
NC State also looks to notch its second victory over a ranked team already this season, after defeating then No. 20/18 Vanderbilt on Dec. 18.
Meanwhile, Miami, the preseason favorite in the ACC, is 11-3 on the year with all three losses coming to nationally-ranked clubs (Tennessee, Georgetown and the Tar Heels). The 'Canes are led by a pair of standout senior guards in Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams.
Johnson is a preseason AP All-American and ACC Player of the Year, and both have been named to the Wade, Naismith and Wooden preseason Player of the Year watch lists.
Miami's homecourt winning streak at BankUnited Center is currently at 32 consecutive games.
The Wolfpack continues its tough opening week of league play at No. 7/6 Duke on Sunday at 2 p.m., in Durham.
