RALEIGH, N.C. - Women's basketball coach Kellie Harper announced Wednesday that guard Len'Nique Brown has transferred to NC State after spending her freshman season at Southern California.
The San Antonio, Texas, native will sit out the 2011-12 season and then will have three years of eligibility remaining.
"Len'Nique is an athletic point guard that brings college experience to our program," said Harper. "She will have a year to learn our system and work on her game."
As a freshman in 2010-11, Brown saw action in all 37 games and made one start for the Women of Troy. She averaged 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists while averaging 12.4 minutes per game.
She scored a season-high nine points on two separate occasions. She came off the bench in a win over the Wolfpack last season, scoring eight points and grabbing four rebounds at Reynolds Coliseum last December.
"She will help continue to strengthen our culture of hard-working players who have great character," Harper added. "I'm thrilled she is here and I look forward to coaching her."
Brown played alongside incoming freshman Erica Donovan for TeamXpress, a club team located in San Antonio.
