MOORESVILLE, N.C. -
NC State men’s tennis signee Robbie Mudge recently received All-America honors from the National High School Tennis All-American Foundation for the second time in his illustrious prep career. A native of nearby Mooresville, N.C., Mudge signed with head coach Jon Choboy and the Wolfpack program in November of last year.
“Robbie is a guy that we really, really wanted to have here at NC State,” said Choboy. “He’s a native North Carolinian and he is one of the best players, not only in the southeast, but the country. We’re excited that he’ll be on board at NC State next year, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow here, both athletically and academically.”
Considered a blue chip recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, Mudge also received All-America honors in 2010. He is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in North Carolina, No. 16 in the Southeast and No. 61 nationally. He boasts a 30-7 overall record, including a 7-3 mark against five-star players and 12-1 against four-stars.
A two-time NCHSAA 4-A singles champion, Mudge’s jersey was recently retired at R.J. Reynolds High School. Last month he won the state singles title and helped his high school collect its second state dual team championship during his tenure. He has been ranked as high as 25th nationally in the 18 and under polls.
