GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State women's tennis placed both Sandhya Nagaraj and Sanaa Bhambri on the 2011 All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team, announced Thursday by the conference office.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career.
The honor marks the first time since 2008 that the Wolfpack has enjoyed multiple All-ACC Academic recognitions.
Bhambri and Nagaraj led the Wolfpack to a final ranking of 27th in the national ITA poll, the highest season-ending ranking in school history. During the season, the Pack climbed as high as 26th, another best in program history.
Bhambri finished the year ranked 32nd in the national singles poll after becoming the first player in NC State history to advance to the second round of the NCAA Individual Championship. Nagaraj finished with a 87th place singles ranking.
In doubles, the pair climbed as high as seventh in the national rankings, wrapping up the season 14th-nationally, both program bests. Nagaraj and Bhambri were the second Pack tandem ever to qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Nagaraj earns her second career inclusion on the All-ACC Academic team, while Bhambri makes her first appearance after taking home All-ACC honors in April.
