Henry Wins Shot Put at Liberty Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Junior Lawanda Henry, a day after finishing second in the hammer throw, won her second event of the outdoor track and field season Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., taking the shot put with a throw of 49-feet, 9-inches.
Henry, who did not participate in last weekend's Raleigh Relays, is a three-time ACC champion thrower who won six times in both the shot and the hammer throw in the indoor season.
Sophomore Danielle Adams was second in the high jump with her best performance of the season at 5-feet, 6-inches.
Teammate Jessica Sanders was 20th in the discus, with a throw of 109-feet, 5-inches. For the Wolfpack men, freshman Nathaniel Williams was seventh in the discus throw with a season-best toss of 159-feet, 8-inches.
Sophomore Grant Pearce was 30th with a throw of 120-feet, 11-inches.
At the Pepsi Florida Relays, freshman Christian Council was 12th in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 8 ¾-inches, his best of the outdoor season.
Junior Kwame Boatwright was 14th in the triple jump with a mark of 48-feet, 11-inches.
The Wolfpack will compete next week at the Duke Invitational in Durham.
