RALEIGH, N.C. - Toni Ann Williford went 1-for-3 and Bridget Desbois notched a 1-for-2 performance in the loss. In addition, relief pitcher Morgan Peeler tossed two innings of two-hit ball while striking out three UNC hitters.

The Tar Heels jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the rubber match of the series thanks to two early homeruns. In the first inning, leadoff batter Kelli Wheeler knocked her 10th round-tripper of the 2011 campaign, and in the third frame, Brittany McKinney smashed her fourth dinger of the season, a three-run shot. After three innings of play, UNC held a 4-0 lead over the Wolfpack.

Williford and Bridget Desbois notched singles in the fourth inning, but the Pack was unable to capitalize on the scoring opportunity, and the UNC advantage remained 4-0.

In the fifth inning, North Carolina designated player Ally Blake hit the Tar Heels' third homerun of the game, a two-run shot, to put UNC up 6-0.

Peeler entered the game in the sixth in relief of starter Kayla Cox. In five innings of work, Cox surrendered six runs on seven hits while striking out six Tar Heel batters.

The Wolfpack returns to the diamond Wednesday, April 13 as the squad travels to Greenville, N.C. to battle the East Carolina Pirates. The first pitch in the doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m. Coverage will be available on Gametracker via GoPack.com.
