GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State's Kody Burke, Marissa Kastanek and Brittany Strachan were selected to the 2010-11 ACC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team.
Kastanek and Strachan are repeat winners having been selected to the 2009-10 academic team.
Strachan, a senior from Kernersville, N.C., is a computer science major at NC State. She averaged a career-best 8.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in her final collegiate season.
She also earned an ACC postgraduate scholarship last month, the Computer Science Department Senior Award, and has been nominated for a NCAA postgraduate scholarship and the ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
Strachan was selected to the Capital One second team Academic All-District women's basketball team as well.
Kastanek, from Lincoln, Neb., is a psychology major at NC State. She was named honorable mention All-ACC as a sophomore after averaging 13.6 points per game. She ranked among the league leaders in both free throw and three-point shooting this season.
Kastanek was voted on to the Capital One first team Academic All-District women's basketball team.
Burke, a freshman from Northridge, Calif., is studying business administration at NC State. She has had a fine first year with the Wolfpack averaging 9.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She set a freshman school record with 57 blocked shots, tying for the fourth most in a single season at NC State.
Duke's Jasmine Thomas has been named the recipient of the third-annual Kay Yow Award as the ACC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This marks the second-straight year that Thomas has been honored with the award.
To be eligible for consideration for the academic squad, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career.
