HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- 31st-ranked NC State women’s tennis swept 72nd-ranked Wisconsin, dropping only one match on the afternoon Saturday.
Tatiana Illova extended her unbeaten streak to six matches with a pair of wins, teaming with Lenka Hojckova to upend Wisconsin’s Hois/Seyferth tandem 8-4, and dropping Alaina Trgovich 7-5, 6-4 in singles.
24th-ranked Sanaa Bhambri and 73rd-ranked Sandhya Nagaraj each won their singles match, with Bhambri defeating Jenny Hois 7-5, 6-2 and Nagaraj topping Nicky Stralar 6-1, 6-1.
As the nationally 19th-ranked doubles team, Bhambri and Nagaraj picked up an 8-5 win over Trgovich/Berner to bounce back from a defeat in last week’s tussle with 25th-ranked VCU.
Christy Sipes knocked off Jessica Seyferth in the afternoon’s only three set affair, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Fellow freshman Joelle Kissell defeated Hannah Berner 6-3, 6-3.
Chloe Smith rounded out the Pack’s singles lineup, and notched a win over Lauren Gruber 6-2, 6-0 to improve to 3-1 on the spring.
NC State (10-2, 1-1 ACC) returns to action Wednesday, March 23 with a home date against third-ranked North Carolina beginning at 3 p.m. in Pullen Park.
