GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State senior guard Amber White shared the final 2010-11 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor, for the period ending Feb. 27.
White, from Coatesville, Pa., had a fantastic final regular-season week, leading NC State to a 2-1 record. The senior averaged 24.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game. She also made a staggering 45 trips to the free throw line, making 35 (77.8%) of those attempts. She set a career-high with 33 points Sunday in an overtime setback at Wake Forest. She also tied a school record with 17 free throws made and 18 free throw attempts against the Deacs.
White played arguably her best collegiate game in the 88-72 win over 13th-ranked North Carolina on Monday. She had 23 points, six assists and four rebounds with zero turnovers.
She is averaging 13.3 points and a team-leading 3.9 assists for the season, good for third on the team.
White also won the first ACC Player of the Week honor of the season back in November.
Wake Forest senior forward Brittany Waters shared the award. She tied a school record with 40 points against Clemson last week. The accolades are voted on by the league's "Blue Ribbon Panel," which consists of national and local media members, as well as school representatives.
NC State (13-16, 4-10 ACC) is the No. 10 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament, and will take on No. 7 seed Boston College on Thursday at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. Tip time is scheduled for 6 p.m. The two teams split the season series with both teams winning on their respective home courts, including a Wolfpack win in Raleigh this past Thursday at Reynolds Coliseum.
