Kastanek, Strachan Selected Academic All-District

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State sophomore Marissa Kastanek and senior Brittany Strachan have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District III women’s basketball team by a vote of the College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA).
Kastanek, from Lincoln, Neb, was named to the first team, while Strachan was tabbed for the second team.
Kastanek is averaging 13.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.9 steals on the year. She is also one of the leading three-point shooters in the ACC, averaging 2.0 makes per game, while shooting 37.2 percent (55-for-148) from beyond the arc. She has scored in double figures 22 times, including four games with 20 or more points. She also scored a career-high 30 points at North Carolina on Jan. 14. Kastanek is majoring in psychology and has a 3.98 grade-point average.
Strachan, from Winston-Salem, N.C., is averaging 7.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists off the bench. She is also a threat from three-point land, converting 34.3 percent (37of-108) of her shots after leading the conference in three-point shooting last year as a junior. Strachan was recently one of three Wolfpackers to earn a post-graduate scholarship from the ACC, and owns a 3.66 GPA as a computer science major.
