The final week of the regular season will be a busy one for the Wolfpack, and it begins by hosting North Carolina on Monday night at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on the Regional Sports Network, and can be seen locally on Fox Sports Carolinas.
NC State will look for some revenge after falling 83-76 last month in Chapel Hill in the first of two meetings between the two Triangle schools. Sophomore Marissa Kastanek scored 30 points that night, marking the first time a Wolfpacker has scored that many points at North Carolina since 1995.
The Wolfpack picked up a key league win last Thursday at Virginia Tech, 81-65. The trio of Bonae Holston, Amber White and Kastanek combined for 54 points in the win in Blacksburg.
Also surrounding Monday's game is the annual BIG Event that will take place before the game at North Talley Plaza from 5-6 p.m. Athletic Director Debbie Yow will greet the crowd and University Dining will give students a chance to win a trip for two to the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four during halftime of the basketball game. Games, giveaways and a DJ will help create an exciting atmosphere for this fierce rivalry.
The BIG EVENT is also going to mark the first "green" event for Wolfpack athletics. The hallowed halls of Reynolds will feature waste stations consisting of composting, recycling and trash bins. Steps have been taken to ensure beverage and food containers are either recyclable or compostable. Additionally, the first 400 students who attend the game will receive t-shirts made from 100 percent recycled material and donated by SustainU Clothing.
During the game, student volunteers will staff the waste stations to guide users in sorting disposables. Student groups will walk the aisles to collect recyclables left behind after the game and the regular contractor will pick up trash items.
Dominos pizza and drinks will be available free to the first 550 students.
NC State hosts Boston College on Thursday in the final home game of the season. A brief senior night ceremony just before the scheduled 7 p.m., tip will take place on the court.
