Freshmen Turn In Strong Track Performances

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s and women’s indoor track teams sent athletes to two different meets on Friday and got several strong performances at both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and Boston University’s Valentine Invitational.
At the Tyson, sophomore sprinter T.J. Graham advanced to the semifinals in the 60-meter dash, where he finished 12th with a time of 6.75 seconds.
Sophomore Karimah Shepherd was seventh in the women’s long jump, with a leap of 19-feet, 2 inches.

Graham and Benjamin Major III will compete in a strong field in the 200-meter dash on Saturday, along with the bulk of the Wolfpack’s jumpers. Live results of the event are available here: http://www.flashresults.com/2011_Meets/indoor/02-11-TysonInvite/Day2.htm.
In Boston, freshmen Lillian Greibesland and Kenyetta Iyevbele were 10th and 12th, respectively, in the mile run. Greibesland, competing in the mile for the first time this season, finished with a time of 4:51.85, while Iyevbele posted a time of 4:54.54.
Tiayonna Blackmon was 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.89.
Andie Cozzarelli was seventh in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:30.58. Teammate Kara McKenna was 15th with a time of 9:44.55.

In addition to those participating in the second day of the Tyson Invitational, the Wolfpack men will compete on Saturday at the Valentine Invitational, while another group of sprinters and throwers from both the men’s and women’s team will compete at UNC’s Dick Taylor Invitational.
Sophomores distance runners Ryan Hill and Andrew Colley will compete in the 3,000-meter race at the Husky Invitational in Seattle Saturday afternoon.
