NC State hosts Fairfield on Tuesday at 7 p.m., from Reynolds Coliseum. This is a make up game from the original date that was scheduled back on Dec. 30. Fairfield was unable to board its flight to Raleigh after a snow storm crippled the Northeast between Christmas and New Year's.
Video and audio broadcasts are available on-line through GoPack.com All-Access.
The Wolfpack steps out of ACC play for its first non-conference game in the month of February since visiting Colorado back on Feb. 1, 1997. The game was part of the ACC/Big 12 Challenge that saw the Buffaloes hold court, 67-62, in Boulder.
NC State has dropped five-straight games, with four of those coming to teams ranked in the top 25. Last time out, Bonae Holston scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but NC State lost to No. 21 Florida State, 76-69, during the sixth-annual Hoops 4 Hope game Sunday afternoon.
Holston and Marissa Kastanek are the first set of Wolfpack teammates to each have a 30-point scoring game in the same season since the 1998-99 campaign when Kim Smith and Summer Eerb reached that same scoring plateau. Kastanek scored 30 early this season at North Carolina on Jan. 14.
Kody Burke has compiled 36 blocks so far. That figure is the second most for a Wolfpack freshman, trailing only Genia Beasley's 49 swats back in 1976-77.
Fairfield enters Tuesday's game having won four-straight games, and is currently 7-3 in the MAAC. The Stags are the nation's top ranked team in scoring defense, allowing 48.0 points per game.
The Wolfpack jumps back into league action this Sunday at No. 12 Maryland at 12 p.m., in College Park. It will mark the first time in school history that NC State has played five-consecutive ACC opponents that are ranked in the top 25. The game will be televised on the Regional Sports Network, that includes Fox Sports Carolinas, Fox Sports Florida, Comcast SportsNet and NESN.
