#46 Wolfpack Bounces Back with Sweep of Auburn

ANN ARBOR, MICH. --- 46th-ranked NC State women’s tennis swept 59th-ranked Auburn, 7-0, to complete play at the ITA National Team Indoors Sunday.
The Pack’s seventh-ranked tandem of Sandhya Nagaraj and Sanaa Bhambri got back on track after suffering their first loss of the spring Saturday by beating 21st-ranked Paulina Schippers and Jacqueline Kasler 8-4.
Lenka Hojckova and Tatiana Illova claimed an 8-4 win over Caroline Thornton and Olivia Bennett to secure the doubles point for NC State (2-1).
In singles play, the Pack won all six matches in straight sets, highlighted by Bhambri’s 6-0, 6-3 win over Thornton. The win caps an important weekend for Bhambri as she sets her sights on improving her 32nd-place national ranking in February after Saturday’s win against 10th-ranked Danielle Lao of USC.
After a loss on Saturday to the third-ranked player in the country, Nagaraj scored a victory over Schippers 6-4, 6-1.
Freshmen Joelle Kissell and Christy Sipes both improved to 2-0 on the weekend after defeating Plamena Kurteva, 6-2, 6-2, and Taylor Schreimann, 6-4, 6-1, respectively.
Hojckova triumphed over Bennett 6-0, 6-2, while Illova dropped Kasler 6-3, 6-1.
Next on the docket for the Pack is a home match against College of Charleston scheduled for noon on February 6.
