Team Harper Competes at 4Kay Golf Classic

CARY, N.C. - The Kay Yow Cancer FundTM, in partnership with The V Foundation and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, held its third annual 4Kay® Golf Classic presented by Nike on September 12-13, 2010, at Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas.
Team Harper, consisting of head coach Kellie Harper, assistant coaches Jon Harper and Richard Barron, and Brett Miller finished third on the Fazio Foothills Course.
Over 150 women's basketball coaches, administrators and supporters of the Fund participated in the Pairings Party and the golf outing, which raised over $171,000 for women's cancer research.
"What an exciting time we had in Austin for the 4Kay Golf Classic presented by Nike," said Marsha Sharp, Executive Director of the Fund. "One of Coach Yow's reasons behind starting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund was the idea of uniting coaches for a common cause. It is great to see our coaches and supporters remaining passionate in the quest to find a cure for cancer."

In three years, the 4Kay Golf Classic has raised nearly $500,000 for women's cancer research. All proceeds benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Donations can be mailed to Kay Yow Cancer Fund/PO Box 3369/Cary, NC 27519-3369.
In December 2007, the late Kay Yow established the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with The V Foundation and the WBCA, as a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
The late Kay Yow, former NC State University head women's basketball coach, was a past president and founding member of the WBCA. Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and battled the disease until her passing in 2009. In her 36 years as a head coach at the college level, Yow was one of only six Division I head women's basketball mentors to achieve 700 career victories. She was an Olympic Gold Medal Head Coach in 1988.
